Beachfront relaxation, ocean-view mornings, and 10 unforgettable nights exploring the Southern Caribbean.
Planning the perfect land and sea vacation doesn’t have to mean choosing between beachfront relaxation and an ocean cruise adventure. For this unforgettable getaway, we combined three nights at Hyatt Zilara, an all-inclusive resort in beautiful Riviera Maya with a 10-night Southern Caribbean cruise aboard Celebrity Cruises. The result? The best of both worlds! A couple sun-soaked days of relaxation followed by island hopping exploration.
We started with pure beachfront bliss. Riviera Maya is known for its turquoise waters, soft white sand, and upscale all-inclusive resorts that make it easy to settle in and truly unwind. No schedules. No rushing. Just mornings by the ocean, afternoons by the pool, and evenings enjoying elevated dining without ever reaching for your wallet. It’s the ideal way to decompress before setting sail.
Then came the second chapter of this land and sea adventure: a 10-night Southern Caribbean cruise filled with stunning ports, vibrant island culture, and endless ocean views from our private balcony cabin. Sailing with Celebrity Cruises means modern luxury, exceptional service, and thoughtfully curated itineraries that make every sea day and port day feel intentional. After relaxing on land, we were ready to roam and the Southern Caribbean delivered.
Why Combine a Riviera Maya All-Inclusive with a Southern Caribbean Cruise?
If you’ve ever felt like your vacation flew by too fast, this is the fix. Pairing a Riviera Maya all-inclusive resort with a Southern Caribbean cruise creates a true land and sea vacation . . . one that starts relaxed and builds into adventure.
Starting with a pre-cruise resort stay gives you time to decompress before embarkation day. Instead of arriving rushed or tired, you step onto the ship already in vacation mode which completely changes the pace of your cruise from day one.
We found that three nights in Riviera Maya was the sweet spot. It’s enough time to unwind, enjoy the beach, and settle in without taking away from the full cruise experience. By the time we boarded our 10-night Southern Caribbean cruise with Celebrity Cruises, we felt recharged — not like we still needed a vacation.
And maybe the biggest win? It stretches your overall getaway in a way that avoids that abrupt “it’s over already?” feeling. You get a slow start, a full cruise experience, and a much smoother return to reality at the end.
Our Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya All-Inclusive Resort Experience
Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya delivers when it comes to scenery. The beach offers soft, white sand and those signature turquoise tones the Caribbean is known for. Water clarity was good during our stay, though like much of this region, seaweed can vary seasonally. Just something to keep in mind when planning.
One of the biggest advantages here is accessibility. The resort was an easy transfer from Cancun International Airport, making arrival day smooth and getting us into vacation mode quickly.
Rooms & Comfort
Our room struck a nice balance between comfort and functionality. We enjoyed an oceanfront suite with a private balcony making it a quiet start to the day or to unwind in the evening. Bedding was comfortable, the space was clean and well-maintained, and the overall vibe leaned more relaxed than high-energy; perfect for easing into vacation.
Dining & Food Quality
Dining offered a good mix of flexibility and variety. Buffet options made mornings and casual meals easy, while specialty restaurants added a more elevated feel in the evenings. Depending on the resort, reservations may be required for certain venues, so a little planning can go a long way.
Standout moments included fresh, locally inspired dishes and well-executed classics with enough variety to keep things interesting over multiple days without feeling repetitive.
Pools, Amenities & Overall Vibe
The overall atmosphere leaned relaxed and low-key, which made it a great fit as a pre-cruise stay. Pool areas ranged from more social to quieter spaces, giving options depending on your mood. Activities and entertainment were available but not overwhelming.
This type of Riviera Maya all-inclusive resort is especially well-suited for couples, friends traveling together, or anyone looking to start their vacation with a slower pace before transitioning into the energy of a Southern Caribbean cruise.
Would We Stay Here Again?
Absolutely. As a standalone getaway, this Riviera Maya all-inclusive resort delivered exactly what we were looking for: beautiful beachfront surroundings, comfortable accommodations, good food, and a relaxed atmosphere. More importantly, it served as the perfect first chapter of our land and sea vacation, allowing us to unwind before shifting into Celebrity cruise mode.
Three nights felt good – though a full week would be lovely as well – it was long enough to settle into vacation without feeling rushed.
